Stony Brook to Host Lacrosse for Autism Night

April 3, 2008

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Two of the big rivalry games of the season for the Stony Brook men's and women's lacrosse teams will come on April 22 when the Seawolves entertain Long Island rival Hofstra. The games will have even more meaning this year as the Stony Brook Athletics Department has announced that the event will also be the inaugural Suffolk County Lacrosse for Autism night. Stony Brook Athletics will team with Lacrosse Unlimited, Inc. and the Cody Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities for the event that will donate a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales to the Cody Center.

Lacrosse for Autism was created by Brendan and Jennifer Fleming of St. James, New York to bring Autism awareness to the Long Island lacrosse community. Each festival-style event for Lacrosse for Autism is based on sharing Autism resources and information to families and friends touched by a child with Autism.

Everything will begin with the women taking the field beginning at 4:00 p.m. followed by the men at 7:00 p.m. with both games taking place in LaValle Stadium on the Stony Brook University campus. Tickets and event information are available at www.goseawolves.org, www.lax4autism.com, Stony Brook Athletics Ticket office, Lacrosse Unlimited retail locations and www.lacrosseunlimited.com.
