Stony Brook's softball team held their own during its first game in the NCAA Regional, losing to No. 2 Arizona State, 2-0, in front of 870 fans at Farrington Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. Friday. Stony Brook will now face Mississippi State, who lost to Hawai'i, tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. [+]

Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Albany; Will Host 2008 America East Baseball Tournament

Sophomore Rob Dyer (Selden, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with four RBI and senior Gary Novakowski (Prosepct, Conn,) hurled a five-hitter to lead the Stony Brook University baseball team to a 7-2 victory over the Albany Great Danes in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Varsity Field. David Kubiak threw a five-hitter to lead the Great Danes to a 4-2 win in game two. With the victory in game one the Seawolves will now host the host the 2008 America East Baseball Championship on May 22-24 at Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, N.Y. The seeds for the four-team double-elimination tournament will be determined following the conclusion of the final regular season games on Sunday, May 18. [+]

Baseball Drops Series Opener To Albany, 6-5

Junior Brian Witkowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and sophomore Rob Dyer (Selden, N.Y.) each had three hits and two RBI but it wasn't enough as the Albany Great Danes used a four-run seventh to rally for a 6-5 victory over the Stony Brook University baseball team on Thursday afternoon at Varsity Field. The Seawolves fall to 30-22 overall and 13-8 in the America East with the loss while the Great Danes improve to 15-36 and 8-13. [+]

Ernie Accorsi, who served as the general manager for the New York Giants for nine years, spoke to the gathering Thursday morning in the Goldstein Family Student-Athlete Development Center. [+]
